Homes Under the Hammer 20th Anniversary!

This week we have seen BBC daytime Television programme Homes under the Hammer celebrate its Twenty Year anniversary. Congratulations to all involved with the programme.

To get to the milestone of twenty years is a fantastic achievement. We understand 1.5 million people watch the show every day.

The concept of the programme is simple and effective. Buy at auction, do the property up and either let it out or sell it on. The presenters and estate agents visit the property before and after the renovations are complete.

Presenter, Martin Roberts has appeared in over 3,000 episodes! Other notable presenters are Lucy Alexander(Lucy and Martin were the original presenters), Dion Dublin, Martel Maxwell and in more recent times Jacqui Joseph and Tommy Walsh.

Here at Findahome Online, we have always had a keen interest in the show. Our Managing Director, Tom Williams has appeared in over 150 episodes in the last twenty years.

Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire auction houses have been regularly visited by the Homes under the Hammer team over the last 20 years.

Tom made his debut on the show back in 2004 when he appraised a property and plot of land in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent. In those days he was Branch Manager of Reeds Rains in Tunstall.

Here is the link to that memorable episode.

Time were very different then…Martin Roberts is seen interviewing two developers in a local pub enjoying a pint! It was that long ago people were still smoking in pubs!

Following founding Findahome in 2010. Tom returned to our screen on Homes under the Hammer in 2011. He remains a regular contributor to the show to this day.

Homes under the Hammer has been great free publicity for Findahome.  Tom often gets recognised from the show. It has bought us new business in. On one occasion a developer who Tom met went on to sell the house with us that featured on the show. A lovely Semi in Sneyd Green, Stoke-on-Trent.

A special mention to the team who work behind the scenes at Lion TV producing the show.

They are a great bunch who work very hard.

Let’s hope the show continues to prosper so that estate agents the length and breadth of the country can continue to get their 5 minutes of fame!
